PriligyWhat this product does is it blocks the action of a chemical messenger that is needed for a certain type of sexual stimulation, so that the chemical messenger is not activated and the drug becomes less effective. This is known as "caffeine activation".
What does this product mean for me?
Serotonin: An anti-histamine. Drugs like Paxil (Priligy) and Zoloft (Orodisodium) are commonly used to treat anxiety and certain types of generalized anxiety disorder (GAD). Serotonin is a neurotransmitter (chemineholder) that can be activated when sexual stimulation occurs. This is known as "histamine activation". Histamine is thought to occur when sexual arousal occurs, and it is thought to be the natural chemical messenger in the nervous system that sends signals to the brain to release serotonin. Paxil is known to work by blocking the effects of serotonin on the brain, but Zoloft is thought to work by blocking the effects of serotonin on the nervous system. It is thought that Zoloft activates serotonin receptors in the brain and that Paxil activates the serotonin receptors in the nervous system. This is thought to work by increasing the levels of serotonin in the nervous system and increasing the levels of catecholamines (such as drowsiness or sedation). Zoloft also increases the level of catecholamines in the nervous system. catecholamines are important for regulating alertness, calmness, and sleep. This is thought to work by activating serotonin receptors in the brain. Serotonin is thought to work by activating receptors on the nervous system that send messages to the brain to release serotonin. Paxil and Zoloft are FDA-approved for the treatment of generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) in adults and children two years and four and up. Zoloft is also approved for the treatment of panic disorder in children and adolescents. Paxil is the active ingredient in the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved drug Priligy (dapoxetine) for the treatment of major depressive disorder (MDD). Zoloft is also approved for the treatment of generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) in adults and children two years and up. Zoloft is also approved for the treatment of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) in children and adolescents. In some cases, Zoloft is used in combination with another drug that also contains an SSRI (Selective Serotonin Receptors) to treat depression. Other SSRIs include fluoxetine (Paxil), sertraline (Zoloft), and citalopram (Celexa). Priligy is not FDA approved for the treatment of bipolar disorder (a mood disorder that affects chemicals in the brain) and does not currently treat any mental health disorders.
